The Story of Haveli – where & how it started

haveli

With the launch of a brand new fabric collection we thought it would be a good idea to tell you the Haveli story from day one, where it all began and how it has progressed over the last year into Haveli. We felt the time had come to update and re brand Tilda Textiles (our previous textiles company) into a new interiors company called Haveli (Indian word for a traditional town house).

It has been a lifelong dream of mine to produce a collection of block printed fabrics for interiors. Having a passion for textiles and travel from a young age, the seed was planted to design colourful and decorative patterns whilst studying textiles at art school.

After completing a business course with the Princes Trust in 2017, I was now ready to finish designing the collection. A trip to Asia was organised to source fabrics for the cushion collection as well as a stop off in India to find a skilled team of block printers to develop my designs with. The design process was simple and thoroughly enjoyable. To start with I designed hundreds of patterns by hand in a bundle of sketch books. These designs were meticulously narrowed down and carved into wooden blocks to print from. It was then time to spend a month in an incredible print room in northern India where we finalised the repeat layouts and colour schemes. I left India with a suitcase filled with fabric samples and came to the hardest bit of the process, it was decision time with what designs to produce with Haveli.

We hope you love the chosen collections of fabric as much as we do. They have each been designed with so much energy, love and passion by so many wonderfully talented people involved, you know who you are. The designs are intended to bring happiness and comfort into your homes in whichever colour you chose to order it in.

All of our fabrics can be used for curtains, blinds, upholstery projects, cushions, soft furnishings, lamp shades and anything else you have in mind. We urge you to be creative when choosing your fabric, they all look great being used together and if you need help choosing colours then get in touch, we would love to help you create a scheme to compliment your interior style.

The future for fabrics with Haveli is thrilling and we look to it with huge excitement. Our fabric designs and motifs can be applied to anything. We plan to collaborate with designers in all creative sectors; ceramicist, lighting experts, stationery printers – the list goes on! As well as the launch of Haveli we have also been busy designing a second collection of fabrics that will launch in 2019. We hope you will continue to be part of the Haveli adventure.
