Block Print Fabrics
This traditional printing process is around 4500 years old and is about precision, detail and life long skills that are passed down through families from generation to generation. This ancient printing technique was very nearly lost in the mid-19 th century due to the Industrial Revolution producing mechanical printing machines. Customers disappeared, it was quicker to get designs machine printed and younger generations were not interested in learning the block printing technique. It was thanks to the arrival of young western hippies in the 60’s which resulted in a block printing renaissance - phew! Each print from our collection has been hand block printed with minor imperfections that are celebrated at Haveli. We think the different textures printed and the slightly off-centred motif is what makes these fabrics so special and we hope that you agree. Here is an insight into our printing processes that are undertaken to produce our recent fabric collection.
